**Tang Yuting**[^1] is a Ph.D. student at [MIT EECS](https://www.eecs.mit.edu/) (starting from 2026 Fall), advised by [Professor. Jas Brooks](https://jasbrooks.net/) in the [Perceptual Engineering Lab](https://lab.jasbrooks.com/).
Prior to their doctoral study, their research focused on EEG-based neural interfaces, including: 1) decoding sensorimotor and cognitive states from EEG using deep learning, 2) translating algorithms into clinical assessment tools and post-stroke neurorehabilitation systems, and 3) optimizing the pre-training efficiency of foundation models.
<details> <summary>Earlier Background</summary> <div class="details-content"> They grew up in China and took undergraduate study in Computer Science at Nanyang Technological University (supported by the Singapore Ministry of Education Scholarship).
Before determining to pursue a Ph.D. path, they spent quite much time exploring various career paths, like doing NLP/CV research, working as a machine learning engineer and data scientist in startups and financial institutions, spending another two years as a research assistant... Finally, they decided to go for PhD, mostly driven by curiosity and thrill of exploration!
